My New Years Resolution: I Want To Be More Like Jesus

This year, let’s strive to embrace a Christ-like mindset that challenges the norms and transforms our lives. Inspired by the teachings of Jesus, we can learn to hang out with sinners, upset religious people, and tell stories that make people think. Let’s choose unpopular friends, be kind, loving, and merciful, just like Jesus. And hey, don’t forget to take naps on boats!

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in our own bubble and forget to reach out to those who need it most. But Jesus showed us a different way – a way of radical inclusivity and intersectionality. By spending time with sinners and outcasts, Jesus defied societal norms and demonstrated the power of love and acceptance.

But it didn’t stop there. Jesus was often criticized by religious leaders for his unconventional teachings and actions. He challenged the status quo, turning beliefs upside down and provoking thought and introspection. His stories, packed with wisdom and truth, still resonate with us today.

So, let’s embark on a journey of transformation this year. Let’s follow in the footsteps of Jesus, choosing kindness, love, and mercy over judgment and exclusion. Let’s disrupt the norm, challenge the religious, and create a ripple effect of change. And yes, let’s not forget to take naps on boats, because even Jesus knew the importance of rest in the midst of a busy life.

This year, let’s be more like Jesus.

Hanging out with sinners: The example of Jesus

Jesus was known for his willingness to spend time with sinners and outcasts. He didn’t shy away from those who were considered outcasts by society. Instead, he embraced them, showing them love, compassion, and acceptance. Jesus understood that everyone deserves a chance at redemption and that no one is beyond His reach.

In today’s world, it’s easy to become judgmental and isolate ourselves from those who are different from us. But Jesus teaches us that we should seek out the company of sinners, not to condone their actions, but to show them the love and grace that God has shown us. By spending time with sinners, we have the opportunity to be a positive influence in their lives and lead them toward a path of transformation.

So, this year, let’s challenge ourselves to step out of our comfort zones and engage with those who may not fit into our usual social circles. Let’s be intentional about building relationships with people who are different from us and show them the love and acceptance that Jesus has shown us. By doing so, we can make a difference in their lives and bring them closer to God.

Upsetting religious people: Challenging the status quo

Throughout his ministry, Jesus often upset religious leaders with his teachings and actions. He challenged the established religious norms of his time and called out hypocrisy and legalism. Jesus wasn’t afraid to question the religious authorities and expose the flaws in their thinking.

In today’s society, it’s easy to fall into the trap of religious legalism and judgment. We may focus more on following rules and traditions rather than truly understanding the heart of God’s message. But Jesus calls us to question the status quo and not be afraid to challenge religious practices that may hinder our relationship with God and others.

So, let’s challenge ourselves to examine our own beliefs and practices. Let’s not be afraid to question traditions that may be rooted in legalism or hypocrisy. Instead, let’s strive for a deeper understanding of God’s love and grace and live out our faith in a way that truly reflects His character. By doing so, we can inspire others to do the same and create a more authentic and inclusive community of believers.

Telling stories that make people think: The power of parables

One of the most powerful ways Jesus communicated His message was through storytelling. He used parables to convey profound spiritual truths in a way that was relatable and thought-provoking. Jesus’ stories had the ability to captivate his audience and make them reflect on their own lives and beliefs.

In today’s world, where information overload is prevalent, storytelling remains a powerful tool for communication. By sharing stories that make people think, we can engage others on a deeper level and inspire them to consider new perspectives. Just like Jesus, we can use storytelling to challenge the status quo, provoke introspection, and encourage personal growth.

So, this year, let’s strive to become better storytellers. Let’s use our words and narratives to convey important messages and spark conversations that lead to positive change. Whether it’s through writing, speaking, or any other form of communication, let’s harness the power of storytelling to make a lasting impact on those around us.

Choosing unpopular friends: Embracing diversity and inclusion

Jesus didn’t limit His friendships to those who were popular or socially accepted. Instead, He chose to befriend individuals who were considered outcasts or marginalized by society. Jesus’ example teaches us the importance of embracing diversity and inclusion in our relationships.

In today’s world, it’s easy to surround ourselves with people who are similar to us and share our beliefs and values. But Jesus challenges us to break out of our comfort zones and build relationships with those who may be different from us. By doing so, we can learn from one another, broaden our perspectives, and cultivate a more inclusive and accepting community.

So, let’s step out of our echo chambers this year and intentionally seek out friendships with individuals who may not be popular or socially accepted. Let’s listen to their stories, learn from their experiences, and embrace the beauty of diversity. By doing so, we can create a more united and harmonious world, just as Jesus intended.

Being kind, loving, and merciful: The heart of Jesus’ teachings

At the core of Jesus’ teachings is the call to love one another. Jesus showed us the importance of kindness, compassion, and mercy in our interactions with others. He demonstrated these qualities through His actions, and He expects us to do the same.

In today’s society, where division and animosity seem to be the norm, it’s crucial for us to embody the love and mercy that Jesus exemplified. Let’s strive to be kind to those who hurt us, to show compassion to those who are suffering, and to extend mercy to those who have wronged us. By doing so, we can bring a glimpse of God’s kingdom to earth and be agents of healing and reconciliation.

So, this year, let’s make a conscious effort to love unconditionally, to be kind in our words and actions, and to extend mercy to those in need. Let’s be known for our love, just as Jesus was known for His. By doing so, we can make a profound impact on the lives of those around us and bring glory to God.

Taking naps on boats: Finding rest and peace in the midst of chaos

In the midst of His busy ministry, Jesus often found time to rest and recharge. One of the notable instances was when Jesus took a nap on a boat during a storm. Despite the chaos and uncertainty surrounding Him, Jesus found peace in the midst of it all.

In today’s fast-paced and demanding world, it’s easy to neglect our own well-being and forget the importance of rest. But Jesus reminds us of the significance of taking time to rest, reflect, and rejuvenate. By prioritizing self-care, we can better serve others and live a more balanced and fulfilling life.

So, this year, let’s make self-care a priority. Let’s not feel guilty for taking breaks and finding moments of solitude. Whether it’s taking a nap, going for a walk, or engaging in activities that bring us joy, let’s carve out time for ourselves. By doing so, we can cultivate a healthier mindset, increase our productivity, and better align ourselves with the peace and rest that Jesus offers.
