Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.

Grief is a powerful emotion that can leave us feeling broken and torn. It can take many forms, but the most common response is tearing our clothing as a sign of despair and sorrow. However, the Bible offers us an alternative way of expressing our grief. Instead of tearing our clothing, the Bible tells us to tear our hearts instead and return to the Lord our God. Joel 2:13 reminds us that God is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger, and filled with unfailing love. In this verse, we are encouraged to put our faith in God and let Him comfort us in our times of distress. By turning to God, we can find solace in His unfailing love and comfort that surpasses all understanding.

Acknowledge that you have gone away from Him. Admit that you have ignored His word, disobeyed Him, and acted as per your heart’s wishes.

Do you feel like you have gone away from the Lord lately? Do you feel your heart has led you astray instead of following the Lord? If so, it is time to acknowledge that you have been ignoring His word and disobeying His will. You must admit that you have acted according to your heart’s desires and not His will.

There is hope, however. Joel 2:13 says, “Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead. Return to the LORD your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry, and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.” God is willing to forgive us and lead us back to Him. All it takes is to acknowledge that we have gone away from Him, admit that we have ignored His word, disobeyed Him, and acted as per our heart’s wishes, and then turn back to Him.

The Lord will wait to forgive and help us return to the right path. We must take the first step and acknowledge that we have left Him. He will be waiting with open arms and His unconditional love and mercy. So take a moment and admit that you have left the Lord, and then turn back to Him. He will be waiting with open arms and a heart full of forgiveness.
